New York Part 1 - Financial District, AMNH, Hell's Kitchen

To say New York was an electric and exquisite experience would be an understatement. You know, everyone tried to tell me. they tried to tell me what we were in for. Unlike other trips we've taken, the discussion of our impending trip to New York seemed to elicit a more invested reaction from friends and family. and you know what I've realized after having visiting myself? new york seems to do that to people. It ignites their interest. Stokes intrigue. Fascinates while literally stimulating the senses. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's like the city has a pulse unto itself. You can feel it, palpably churning away under your feet as you navigate the concrete paths throughout Manhattan, so very well travelled.

We absolutely loved our adventure filled time in New York. And of course the best way to chronicle the incredible trip we had, is with many, many pictures and fewer words. Here we go...

ps. wish me luck with that 'fewer words' part ;)
Day 1
Day One: Arrived in the late morning. Explored Century 21, the Financial District, Ground Zero, Times Square and ended with supper near the hotel in Times Square.

Day 2

Day 2 started with our first foray into the subway system...this became our favourite way to travel around nyc! we arrived at the American Museum of Natural History in the early morning, and thoroughly combed through every exhibit. Loved our time there. The dinosaurs and animal related exhibits were our favourite! After the museum, we forayed over to central park for the first of several experiences in this iconic space. it was just as beautiful as every movie had led me to believe. magical, i tell you!

We wrapped up the day by exploring hell's kitchen, only a couple blocks away from our hotel. First, we caught a beer at what became our favourite little watering hole, The Brew House. picture a small, recessed, quaint irish pub, decked in twinkly lights and garland galore, tucked away underneath an historic street of brownstone buildings bursting with restaurants of every size, type, vibe and cuisine.  perfectly new york.

Later that evening, we realized just how hungry we were and ended up at Southern Hospitality (yes, southern food on our first night in nyc of all places :). I experienced chicken and waffles together for the first time. delish! later found out it was justin timberlake's restaurant. o new york, you wild and crazy place. thanks for the amazing whirlwind that was our first two days visiting your fine city. we knew, o about the second we set foot on your bustling city streets, that we were all gonna get along real fine.
