New York Part 3 - Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade & a Football Game

Day 4 in New York was Thanksgiving Day and it was a whirlwind! The crowds for the parade were unreal! We decided to keep it low key on Thanksgiving, and not kill ourselves over squeezing too much in. We were able to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade right beside 30Rock, which was quickly becoming our go-to stomping grounds.

Before the parade officially ended, we snuck away to 5th ave to take in some of the sights during daylight hours, that we had missed the night before. We stumbled upon a beautiful and massive cathedral along 5th ave, nestled right in and among the spectacular and iconic shops. We were able to go in and tour around on our own. It was simply breathtaking! I often scratch my head at how architecture that old was even possible so long ago. Amazing.

After sauntering 5th ave, we decided to head back to the hotel to bundle up and start our lengthy trek to New Jersey for the Thanksgiving Day football game: Jets vs. Patriots. Ryan was beyond excited for this game since Tom Brady was playing, and that is far and away his favourite NFL player. He was like a kid in a candy store the whole evening. I should mention though, that before getting to the beautiful stadium, we embarked on the sketchiest and lengthiest train experience of our lives from Manhattan to Meadowlands, NJ. o. my. goodness. I don't know how trains that are so old, so rickety and sooooooo far underground function so well!? Several times, I thought we might never make it out of the New York/New Jersey underbelly. But alas, we did. And alls well that ends with watching Tom Brady destroy the competition in your first ever live NFL game :)
