Walks & Talks

When we were first thinking about getting a dog, there were two things I really hoped would be a result of taking care of/enjoying our puppy: more time spent outside exploring where we live, and more time spent enjoying friends and family's company. This past weekend was such an encouraging confirmation that those hopes could become part of our new reality.

On Friday, Ryan had the day off. So after a leisurely morning spent puttering around the house, catching up on overdue chores and to-do's, we set out to enjoy the unseasonably warm weather. We're talking + temperatures here people! So with the sun shining and just our sweaters to keep us warm (no parkas today!!), we headed downtown. We caught lunch at Chicken on the Way, walked through Kensington, and rounded things out with a trip to the Starbucks near our house. It was a lovely afternoon spent talking and catching up and remembering just how much we really, really like each other :)

If you stop for a minute or longer, Lincoln will often lay down and go to sleep.
o wolfhounds, you are a funny breed. so sleepy.
Catching a quick Starbucks. He's now an officially initiated member of this family, I tell ya.

Then, on Sunday after church, we met up with my Mom to walk the Wedgewoods. It was much colder on Sunday but still beautiful in that its-cold-and-snowy-but-crisp-and-lovely-just-the-same kind of way. We walked along the river and through the woods, ending up on large grassy hill where we did a little off leash training. And on that note, Lincoln running towards you looking all bat dog like? well it's just about the cutest thing ever.

Sunday, much like Friday, was a day spent enjoying the outdoors even if it was a little colder out. And whatever cold we might have encountered was cancelled out by all the warm fuzzies I was feeling as a result of more time spent with my dear, dear loved ones. Here's hoping we have a lot more weekends like this in our future.
